2020 is the 300th anniversary of James Hargreaves. Hyndburn Borough Council wants to celebrate our village hero and we are working with them to bid for funds to celebrate this event across the borough.

In the pipeline are a series of drama/music/art projects with local schools - West End Primary and Hyndburn Park Primary with performances in June and September respectively. We will also be working with the Chapel in celebrating village and Methodist heritage.

rubbish! The car park behind the Stanhill Social Club appears to be the current place of choice for some car owners to dump their rubbish rather than take it home and bin it.

We did a grot spot pick up yesterday and took a large plastic bag of bottles, cans and packets up to Whinney Hill tip along with an umbrella and an air mattress.

The village fete, pensioners party and sing around the tree were again great successes last year and we raised substantial sums for local causes and had a lot of fun in the process. We always need help whether on the committee [very informal and friendly] or being on a list of volunteers for the odd task. Pleas elet us know if you would like to be involved - a little or a lot, it's up to you. It's what helps to make this village special.

The village cctv system has been in almost continuous demand since we acquired it. It's a simple system for sticking two cameras to windows and having access to and recording what is going on.

If you have any security - even going on holiday - concerns we can arrange for the system to be installed very quickly and loaned to you for a period of up to 4 weeks. Everything in confidence.

Let us know if you require it but you need wi-fi to operate it.

Stanhill is an historic village. A bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2015 was successful and helped us to to find £36,000 to be spent between Autumn 2015 and Autumn 2017!

Stanhill Residents and Fete Committee work hard to support the activities that make this historic village such a fantastic community to live in: the annual fete, pensioners party, Sing Around The Tree, heritage project plus all the campaigning work to deal with speeding and litter issues, bus stops and much more.

We're delighted to report that the fete was again a great success and attracted a lot of people. We have raised a lot of money for local good causes and local charities. We are always looking for volunteers to help us with a few hours here and there either before or on the day. So let us know if you would like to be contacted.

Our video 'James Hargreaves - Spin Doctor' has now received well over 5000 views from all over the world and increases daily. So our village is well and truly on the map. If you still haven't seen it then google James Hargreaves - Spin Doctor. We have also been asked permission to include a short clip of the Spinning Jenny for a forthcoming tv documentary on great inventions.
