Stanhill Residents and Fete Committee work hard to support the activities that make this historic village such a fantastic community to live in: the annual fete, pensioners party, Sing Around The Tree, heritage project plus all the campaigning work to deal with speeding and litter issues, bus stops and much more.
A reminder that the village's 'Roving Eye' mobile cctv system is available free of charge to residents for periods of up to four weeks free of charge. It has been in constant use ever since we acquired it, Providing you have wi-fi we can install it very quickly. If you have a current security concern please contact us and book a time slot. This is a confidential service.
We're delighted to report that the fete was again a great success and attracted a lot of people. We have raised a lot of money for local good causes and local charities. We are always looking for volunteers to help us with a few hours here and there either before or on the day. So let us know if you would like to be contacted.
Our video 'James Hargreaves - Spin Doctor' has now received well over 5000 views from all over the world and increases daily. So our village is well and truly on the map. If you still haven't seen it then google James Hargreaves - Spin Doctor. We have also been asked permission to include a short clip of the Spinning Jenny for a forthcoming tv documentary on great inventions.
The Stanhill Village Heritage Trail is in popular use with walkers and visitors. So far this year over 300 visitors have received a guided tour and talk including societies and families. If you know of any societies or groups who might be interested in the 'Stanhill Experience' please ask them to contact me or visit our website on stanhillvillage.co.uk. We have been booked for further events including some as far ahead as next January.
Last year the owners of 19 Stanhill Street, Oswaldtwistle BB5 4QE opened their garden for a weekend as part of the National Garden Scheme. Everyone who attended was impressed and enjoyed themselves.
This year there is a repeat performance and the garden is open from 12 - 5pm on Saturday 31 August and Sunday 1 September.
You may have read recently of the exercise conducted by the Tactical Operations Unit and the Lancashire Safer Roads Team in Stanhill. They targeted speeding motorists. A number of drivers were pulled over for speeding as well as other offences. In two cases drivers were speeding at 44 mph and 50 mph in the 30 mph limit.
